Product FAQ

Where are OHTETA shoes made?

We are passionate and dedicated to giving young traditional shoemakers an avenue of opportunity. We are incredibly proud to have some great manufacturers in Africa and Asia. We believe this makes us unique and makes our journey even more special.

Our shoes are made in small workshops located in West Africa and China. We are committed to having solid and personable relationships with our manufacturers and ensuring ethical trade and excellent work conditions. Our shoes are entirely handmade without modern machinery; this allows us to offer great prices.

Who designs your shoes?

Our Founder carefully conceptualised our shoe designs with assistance from a shoe designer. The styles are perfected and sent to our manufacturers to be brought to life.

Why do I notice slight differences in construction from one shoe to the other?

While the utmost care is taken in crafting our shoes - they are all completely handmade without machinery, adding to the beauty and individuality of OHTETA. We wholeheartedly embrace the craftsmanship of shoemaking; therefore regard the variations in our designs as unique. That being said, specific pattern differences can be due to the material type. Our leather shoes can have natural blemishes in the hides that are not manufacturing defects.

Sizing FAQ:

How do I know what size to order?

We know it can be hard to determine your shoe size online, especially when brands differ significantly. The best way to choose your size is to get an accurate measurement. Click here for a complete guide on our sizing.

Are smaller sizes available?

At the moment, we have no intention to expand our size range beyond 8UK -13 UK.

Does OHTETA offer wide fitting shoes?

All our shoes are standard or narrow fit; unfortunately, we do not currently offer wide fit. As a small business, we are taking our time and have limited capacity for expansion, but we hope with time, we will be able to cater to this need.

Care FAQ:

How can I best take care of your shoes?

Taking care of your new shoes is essential. To preserve your shoes, we suggest the following:

For Synthetic material, gently clean blemishes with a damp cloth- we suggest using warm water. Do not scrub or apply significant pressure as the material can tear. After cleaning, allow your shoes to air dry. You can also apply a synthetic leather lubricant if desired.

For leather shoes, gently buffer the leather with a cotton damp cloth. With snakeskin leather, please clean in the direction of the material pattern. After cleaning, allows your shoes to air dry.

To preserve the life of the shoe sole, avoid uneven and rough surfaces as possible.

We suggest when you are not wearing your shoes that, you keep them in the OHTETA duster bag they arrive in
